Bet you've never stayed anywhere quite like Courceriers
The gîte is a 17th century tower with private carp fishing lake and is surrounded by the ruins of an ancient fortress. Situated near the village of Saint-Thomas-de-Courceriers in the Mayenne, Pays de la Loire.
People with square minds cannot fit into this tower.
The tower is completely renovated and provides comfortable accommodation on 5 floors for up to 5 people.

The gîte consists of a 17th century tower on 5 levels linked by a spiral staircase. It is equipped with all modern conveniences. It is completely separate from our own house, which is nearby, should you need us. In the grounds surrounding the gîte there are the ruins of an ancient 15th century fortress, a fishing lake of approximately one and a half hectares and a river.
It is extremely difficult to do justice to the interior of the property in photographs.
Being a round tower it is impossible get a decent perspective.
Ground Floor - Kitchen / Diner
You enter the tower through the kitchen / diner. It is fully equipped to a high standard with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher. All crockery, cutlery, glasses, etc. are provided.
In the dining area is a dining table and chairs to seat 4 or 5.
First Floor - Lounge
Sofa, antique dresser, UK satellite TV, DVD player, HI-FI, coffee table, games and books of local history.
The sofa converts into a double bed if required.
We can provide additional (English) books and DVDs (especially films for children) on request.
Second Floor and Mezzanine - Bedrooms
Main bedroom with double bed, bedside tables, dressing table, seating and storage space.
A baby cot can be supplied if required.
Additional mezzanine bedroom with single bed.
Lower Floor - Bathroom
Bath with shower, sink, heated towel rail and toilet.
This room also houses the washing machine and hot water tank.
In the huge garden and grounds surrounding the gîte there is a patio / terrace with barbecue, table tennis table, parking and a lake with rowing boat.
Bicycles are available free of charge as is the fishing boat with 2 life jackets.
The 1.8 hectare lake, 50 metres from the gîte, was netted in November 2019 and over 250kg of mirror and common carp were recorded.

Courceriers, near the village of Saint-Thomas-de-Courceriers, is easily accessed from the Channel ports, four hours drive from Calais and the Eurotunnel terminal and two hours from Caen.
The surrounding countryside offers peace and quiet and delightful walks. It is also an area of great historical interest, with outstanding sites ranging from the Renaissance through the Middle-Ages to Pre-historic times.
The medieval theme park of Clairbois with a reconstruction of a 13th century fortified farm. Here you can watch knights jousting and eat medieval fare
Saulges with its caves and canyon cut into the valley by the river Erve, is a classified Natura 2000 area. It is also a prehistoric site with traces of human life going back 100 000 years.

The prices are for up to 2 persons.
Please add 30 euro/week for an extra person.
Children under 8 year old are free.
Our rates, include water, electricity and ample towels and bed linen.
There is no charge for fishing the lake.
Our gîte is perfect for a romantic few days away or a short break, please contact us and we will try to be flexible.
